Back End Developer

Backend Engineer

We're looking for a Backend Engineer to design and scale backend services for a high-growth media platform. You'll work on distributed systems, real-time streaming, and event-driven architecture that power a high-volume, global user base.

What you'll do:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using NestJS and TypeScript
• Build distributed systems within a microservices architecture to support high-volume traffic
• Work across MySQL, DynamoDB, and Neptune to ensure data integrity and performance
• Implement caching strategies with ElastiCache for performance optimization
• Build media compression, transcoding, and streaming solutions using AWS Elemental and Amazon IVS
• Leverage AWS services (Lambda, Step Functions, S3, WAF) to enhance scalability and security
• Use Kafka, gRPC, Protocol Buffers, SNS, and SQS for asynchronous, event-driven communication
• Enable secure, low-latency, real-time communication via WebSockets and XMPP
• Partner closely with frontend engineers and product managers to ship seamless user experiences

What you bring:

• 8+ years of backend development experience building large-scale applications
• Strong expertise in TypeScript, with proficiency in other languages
• Solid experience with NestJS and microservices architecture
• Extensive experience with MySQL, DynamoDB, and ElasticSearch; graph database experience (Neptune) a plus
• Deep familiarity with the AWS ecosystem, especially for backend and media applications
• Experience with media streaming, compression, transcoding, or low-latency streaming a plus
• Familiarity with gRPC, Protocol Buffers, Kafka, WebSockets, and XMPP
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and communication
