General Purpose of Job

The IT/OT Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining the critical IT (Informational Technology) and OT (Operational Technology) systems, ensuring reliability, security, and compliance with regulatory requirements. This role requires expertise in industrial control systems, SCADA, outage management, distributed energy resource management, and compliance with NERC CIP standards. The IT/OT Administrator will oversee the integration and operation of various IT/OT infrastructures, including network components, virtualization platforms, enterprise storage, and backup solutions.

Requirements

Education

  • Minimum: Four (4) year bachelor’s degree in information systems or a related field.
  • Job-related experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Experience

  • Minimum: Four (4) years of experience working with Active Directory management, VMware vSphere and associated components, and experience with backup, replication, and clustering technologies, with a focus on Disaster Recovery implementation.
  • Minimum: Two (2) years of experience working with enterprise storage solutions and SAN integration, Microsoft Exchange Office 365, Entra, and Azure.
  • Preferred: Experience within an electric utility or related industry preferred.

Certifications

  • Required - Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to work irregular hours for assignment completion and flexibility to change scheduling and report to work on short notice during emergency situations.
  • Normal work hours will be eight (8) hours Monday through Friday, between 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment background check, physical and drug screen.

Job Specific Competencies

  • NERC CIP Compliance: In-depth knowledge and application of NERC CIP Version 3 and/or Version 5 regulatory requirements.
  • Industrial Control Systems (ICS) Management: Proficiency in maintaining and securing ICS, SCADA, DCS, OMS, and DERMS.
  • Active Directory Administration: Expertise in managing AD, including group policies, user authentication, and security protocols.
  • Virtualization Technologies: Strong ability to manage VMware vSphere environments, including vCenter, HA.
  • Enterprise Storage Management: Knowledge of NAS, FC, and iSCSI SANs, and their integration with VMware systems.
  • Cloud & Office 365 Administration: Experience managing Microsoft Exchange, Office 365, Entra, and Azure environments.
  • Network Infrastructure: Understanding of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and other core networking components.
  • Backup & Disaster Recovery Solutions: Competence in implementing and managing backup, replication, and clustering strategies.
  • Cybersecurity Best Practices: Ability to apply IT/OT cybersecurity measures to safeguard critical infrastructure.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Strong problem-solving skills for identifying and resolving IT/OT system issues.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Regulatory Compliance & Security

  • Ensure compliance with NERC CIP Version 3 and/or Version 5 standards.

IT/OT Systems Administration

  • Administer and maintain Industrial Control Systems (ICS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Outage Management Systems (OMS), and Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS).
  • Manage rack server hardware, blade servers, and virtualization platforms to ensure high availability and efficiency.
  • Oversee and configure network components such as TCP/IP, DHCP, and DNS.
  • Administer Active Directory (AD), including group policies, user permissions, and authentication protocols.
  • Maintain and optimize VMware vSphere environments, including vCenter, High Availability (HA), and Fault Tolerance (FT) in vSphere 7.x and above.

Storage & Cloud Management

  • Implement and manage enterprise storage solutions (NAS, FC, iSCSI SANs) and ensure their seamless integration with VMware platforms, including proprietary SAN operating systems like NetApp.
  • Support and manage Microsoft Exchange Office 365, Entra, and Azure cloud environments.

Backup & Disaster Recovery

  • Develop and implement backup, replication, and clustering strategies, ensuring Disaster Recovery (DR) preparedness at multiple levels.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. This position has general sedentary office environment with some business travel for training and development. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
