The Local IT Administrator ensures the smooth operation of local IT systems, provides responsive support to users, and maintains the integrity and security of the organization’s technology environment. This role emphasizes hands-on support, Microsoft Active Directory (AD) and Windows Server administration, and a strong customer service orientation, with increasing use of Azure and cloud-based services.
Key Responsibilities:
• 1. User Support & Customer Service:
Serve as the primary point of contact for IT support, addressing hardware, software, and connectivity issues for both onsite and remote users. Provide timely troubleshooting and resolution for desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices, primarily in Windows environments.
Guide users through onboarding/offboarding processes, including account setup, device provisioning, and access removal.
• 2. Microsoft Active Directory, Windows Server & Azure Administration:
Administer user and machine accounts in Active Directory, including group memberships, password resets, and policy enforcement.
Manage and maintain Windows Server environments, including user access, group policies, and server roles.
Support and manage Azure Active Directory, cloud-based authentication, and device management.
Oversee login sessions, multifactor authentication, and device security (e.g., remote wipe, device removal from Outlook/Azure).
Maintain AD conventions for inventory and specialized groups (e.g., AR/AP/NC).
• 3. Systems & Asset Management:
Oversee the deployment, migration, and replacement of Windows systems (e.g., Win11 upgrades, compatibility checks).
Track and manage IT inventory, ensuring accurate records of assets and decommissioning old hardware securely (e.g., hard drive erasure, BitLocker verification).
Coordinate software licensing (e.g., Microsoft, Adobe, AutoCAD) and ensure compliance.
• 4. Network & Infrastructure Support:
Support local network closets, including patch panels, structured cabling, and the configuration and management of managed network switches.
Perform basic to intermediate network troubleshooting, ensuring reliable connectivity and optimal network performance.
Assist with phone system migrations, copier/printer contracts, and basic telecom/ISP renewals.
Maintain up-to-date documentation for network layouts, device locations, and physical infrastructure.
• 5. Security & Compliance:
Implement and monitor endpoint protection (e.g., Sophos), manage LAPS passwords, and participate in vulnerability remediation.
Follow procedures for user access removal and ensure compliance with internal security policies.
• 6. Project & Vendor Coordination:
Participate in IT projects (e.g., SDWAN/SDLAN rollouts, CapEx purchasing).
Liaise with vendors for hardware, software, and service contracts as needed.

• Works collaboratively with local staff, remote teams, and external vendors, building positive relationships across the organization.
• Flexible and resourceful, able to adapt to a wide range of technical needs and “all other things” that arise in a busy IT environment.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 2–5 years’ experience in IT support, systems administration, or coordination roles.
• Strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience with:
- Windows desktop and server environments (Windows 10/11, Windows Server 2016/2019/2022)
- Microsoft Active Directory (on-premises and Azure AD)
- Azure cloud services (e.g., device management, authentication, Office 365)
- Managed network switches, structured cabling, and physical network infrastructure
- Networking fundamentals and endpoint security
• Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
