Platform Engineer

My client, a leading organisation based in Westmeath, is currently seeking an experienced Platform Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a Platform Engineer with strong Microsoft Azure and DevOps experience to play a key role in designing, implementing and supporting scalable, secure, and reliable cloud infrastructure. Working closely with software development, data engineering and business teams, you will help deliver modern platform solutions that enable innovation and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to align platform engineering initiatives with organisational goals.
• Bridge the gap between technical delivery and business priorities, ensuring solutions support strategic objectives.
• Promote collaboration across cross-functional teams and act as a key technical point of contact.
• Implement, configure and maintain development tools and platform services.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and release management processes within Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of enterprise-scale DevOps practices and automation.
• Continuously improve cloud infrastructure, deployment pipelines, monitoring and platform performance.
• Maintain Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments, including software updates and testing.
• Develop and optimise deployment pipelines to support automated build, test and release processes.
• Ensure appropriate governance, security controls and operational standards across development and test environments.
• Work within Agile teams to build, maintain and enhance cloud platforms and data pipelines.

Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience).
• Strong commercial experience with Microsoft Azure; experience with Microsoft Fabric is highly desirable.
• Experience working with cloud data platforms and data warehousing technologies.
• Knowledge of data management principles, including data quality, metadata management, master data management and data cleansing.
• Strong scripting or programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, Scala or R.
• Experience with C#, PowerShell and Terraform.
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), including ARM templates or similar technologies.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Power Apps is advantageous.
• Understanding of Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and cloud security best practices.
• Experience implementing DevOps practices, including CI/CD, automated testing and deployment.
• Strong ability to translate business requirements into practical technical solutions.
