Systems Analyst (Cloud Engineer)
Indexed description
This role suits someone who is comfortable working across a multi-cloud environment, collaborating with project teams, operations teams, security stakeholders, and vendors to ensure infrastructure is properly designed, implemented, documented, and maintained. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and equally at ease with infrastructure code, cloud consoles, and operational support processes.
What You Will Be Working On
You will support the implementation and operation of cloud infrastructure across government Azure and AWS environments, maintaining and enhancing it using Terraform and IaC practices. This includes developing reusable Terraform modules, templates, and configuration standards to enable secure, consistent, and automated infrastructure deployment.
Day-to-day, you will manage cloud resources spanning compute, storage, databases, networking, identity and access management, monitoring, backup, and security services. You will work with project teams to translate business and technical requirements into cloud infrastructure solutions, and monitor environments for availability, performance, security, capacity, and cost efficiency.
You will also implement observability, alerting, automation, and operational tooling to improve service reliability and incident response, and coordinate with vendors, application teams, and cybersecurity teams on incident investigation, root cause analysis, and resolution. Supporting backup, disaster recovery, business continuity, and capacity planning initiatives will also be part of your responsibilities.
Beyond infrastructure work, you will perform changes in accordance with change management and governance processes, maintain audit-ready documentation including architecture diagrams, runbooks, and standard operating procedures, and support Google Workspace administration covering user lifecycle management, access controls, and security policies.
What We Are Looking For
Knowledge
You should have at least 2 years of hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure support, implementation, or operations. We are looking for practical knowledge of Microsoft Azure and AWS services (including EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, and CloudWatch), working knowledge of Google Workspace administration, and a good understanding of IaC principles, version control, cloud networking concepts, and cloud security principles such as least privilege access, encryption, and logging.
It would be a bonus if you have knowledge of Terraform Enterprise or Terraform Cloud, CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, scripting languages like PowerShell, Bash, or Python, or prior experience supporting enterprise or government cloud environments with security, compliance, and audit requirements. Relevant certifications such as Azure Administrator Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or HashiCorp Terraform Associate are also advantageous.
Skills
You should have hands-on experience writing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Terraform code for infrastructure provisioning and management. You should be able to troubleshoot infrastructure issues, analyse logs, and coordinate with technical teams to resolve incidents effectively. Good documentation and communication skills are also important, as the role involves maintaining audit-ready records and working closely with cross-functional teams.
Attitude
We are looking for someone who is proactive and detail-oriented, comfortable working independently while collaborating effectively across teams. You should be eager to learn and develop expertise across multiple cloud platforms, and able to identify opportunities for automation and improvement within a structured enterprise environment. A commitment to following established standards and governance processes, while still taking initiative, is key to succeeding in this role.
