Principal Technical Lead (.NET / Azure) - Infrastructure / platform experience required

We're partnering with an established Australian technology business that's investing heavily in the next generation of its cloud platform. They're looking for a Principal Technical Lead to provide technical direction across a modern Azure environment while remaining hands-on across full-stack engineering.

This is a senior individual contributor role where you'll work closely with architecture and engineering leadership to shape technical strategy, mentor developers and drive engineering best practice across multiple product teams.

What you'll be doing

• Design, build and evolve a cloud-native Azure platform that supports business-critical applications.
• Own the technical direction across cloud infrastructure, application architecture and engineering standards.
• Deliver hands-on development across modern .NET backend services and React/TypeScript front-end applications.
• Build and maintain APIs and integrations between internal systems and third-party platforms.
• Lead the adoption of AI-assisted engineering tools and establish best practices across the development team.
• Drive improvements around reliability, scalability, security, observability and software quality.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, technical design and architectural guidance.
• Partner closely with Solution Architecture and Engineering Leadership to influence long-term technology decisions.

About you

You'll be an experienced Technical Lead or Principal Engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems and leading through technical expertise rather than people management.

You'll have strong experience across:

• Azure cloud architecture and platform engineering
• Infrastructure as Code (Bicep, Terraform or similar)
• Azure networking and enterprise cloud environments
• Modern .NET development
• React and TypeScript
• REST APIs and microservices
• CI/CD using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or similar
• DevOps, SRE and observability practices
• AI-assisted software engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code

Experience integrating enterprise business platforms or ERP systems would be highly regarded.
