A leading organisation is looking to appoint an experienced Data Architect to play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering its modern data strategy.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a business at the beginning of its data transformation journey, where you will be responsible for designing and evolving a scalable cloud-based data architecture built around Databricks. You'll work closely with technical and business stakeholders to establish best practices, support analytics initiatives and create a robust data platform capable of supporting future growth.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building strong data foundations, solving complex technical challenges and influencing the future direction of enterprise data architecture.
The Role
As Data Architect, you will:
- Design, develop and evolve the organisation's enterprise data architecture
- Create conceptual, logical and physical data models
- Design scalable data ingestion, integration and transformation processes
- Develop modern cloud-based data solutions using Databricks
- Define architecture standards, governance, naming conventions and security principles
- Design and implement Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver and Gold layers)
- Translate business requirements into practical and scalable technical solutions
- Support data warehousing, data lakes, business intelligence and analytics initiatives
- Partner with engineering, analytics and business teams to deliver high-quality data solutions
- Provide architectural guidance and technical leadership across data projects
- Balance immediate business needs with long-term platform scalability
- Identify technical debt and recommend continuous improvements
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend future data platform enhancements
About You
You'll bring:
- 8–10+ years' experience in Data Architecture
- Strong expertise in data modelling, integration, data warehousing and data lake design
- Hands-on experience with Databricks
- Experience with Azure Data Factory and Power BI
- Excellent understanding of modern cloud data architecture and ELT methodologies
- Experience designing scalable enterprise data platforms
- Strong knowledge of metadata management, master data management and business intelligence solutions
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- The ability to simplify complex technical concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
- Professional certifications or postgraduate qualifications would be advantageous
