Role Description
We are looking for a Cloud Engineer (m/f/d) to join our 7-person development team and help build and operate the cloud platform behind our satellite imagery ordering and delivery systems.
This is primarily a cloud engineering role focused on AWS infrastructure, Kubernetes, automation, and platform operations. As part of a small and collaborative engineering team, you may occasionally contribute to backend services when needed, but cloud infrastructure is the clear focus of the position.
You will be the primary engineer responsible for our AWS platform, working closely with developers and product stakeholders to design, deploy, and evolve the systems that power our products. There is no on-call rotation associated with this role.
This is a full-time position based in Munich with a hybrid work model (2 days per week in the office).

- Working proficiency in English.
- Willingness to commit to a hybrid 2 days per week onsite setup in our office in Munich.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience working with AWS in production environments.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred).
- Experience designing, deploying, and operating Kubernetes-based workloads.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
- Experience with Bash scripting.
- Basic Python programming skills for automation and AWS Lambda-based workloads.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with cloud cost monitoring and optimization.
- Experience developing REST APIs.
- Experience with TypeScript.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate secure, scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS.
- Manage and evolve our Kubernetes and serverless workloads.
- Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
- Design and improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
- Optimize performance, reliability, security, and operational efficiency across our platform.
- Drive the ongoing consolidation of our technical portfolio into AWS.
- Collaborate closely with software engineers, product stakeholders, and business teams.
- Occasionally contribute to backend services and APIs when required.
