- Design and implement scalable data pipelines, backend services, and integration solutions using AWS, Python, SQL, and Shell scripting.
- Develop and optimize data platforms that support utility business functions, including metering, billing, operational analytics, and customer data management.
- Build reusable Python-based components and automation frameworks that improve efficiency, maintainability, and delivery speed.
- Ensure the security, reliability, and performance of cloud-based applications by implementing AWS best practices, automated testing, and monitoring solutions.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions while supporting production operations and continuous platform improvements.
- 8–12 years of software engineering, data engineering, or backend development experience supporting enterprise-scale platforms.
- Strong Python programming experience developing data pipelines, automation frameworks, APIs, or backend services.
- Strong hands-on expertise with AWS services, including compute, storage, networking, and cloud security capabilities.
- Advanced SQL skills, including query optimization, performance tuning, indexing, and data modeling for large-scale databases.
- Experience supporting utility industry platforms such as metering, billing, outage management, customer information systems, or related utility operations.
- Experience implementing cloud security controls, access management, and data protection solutions in regulated environments.
- Strong Shell scripting experience for automation, scheduling, deployment, and operational support activities.
- Experience with CI/CD, DevOps practices, automated testing, and production monitoring.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex data and application issues while performing root cause analysis and implementing long-term solutions.
- Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives across cross-functional teams.
Preferred Certifications
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate
- AWS Certified Developer – Associate
- Other AWS, cloud, database, or data engineering certifications
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
