Build the Platform Behind the Platform
Every feature our customers use. Every deployment our engineers make. Every environment we provision. Every release we ship. It all depends on the platform.
At Valmar Holdings, we're building modern financial infrastructure across lending, payments, and automation. We're looking for a Staff Software Engineer, Platform who believes infrastructure should create leverage—not friction.
This isn't a role for someone who simply maintains cloud infrastructure. It's for someone who sees every manual process, repetitive task, unreliable deployment, and engineering bottleneck as a problem worth solving.
The best platform engineers don't just improve systems. They improve every engineer around them.
This Is Not...
- Not a traditional DevOps role focused on keeping servers online.
- Not an operations role driven by tickets and maintenance.
- Not a company where platform engineering exists behind the scenes.
- A role where your work enables every engineering team to move faster.
What You Will Own
Engineering Infrastructure
- Architect scalable AWS infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code.
- Improve security, reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Design resilient systems that scale with the business.
Developer Experience
- Improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
- Build tooling that helps engineers ship faster with confidence.
- Create cost effective ephemeral environments for automated testing.
AI-Powered Engineering
- Use AI to improve infrastructure, testing, documentation, monitoring, and automation.
- Identify opportunities where AI creates measurable engineering leverage.
Reliability & Engineering Excellence
- Improve observability and incident response.
- Support SOC and PCI readiness.
- Comfort owning production systems end-to-end, including participating in a shared on-call rotation.
- Mentor engineers and raise engineering standards.
Who We're Looking For
- You automate repetitive work whenever possible.
- You think in systems instead of individual tasks.
- You remove bottlenecks before they become problems.
- You embrace AI as a force multiplier.
- You have strong AWS, infrastructure-as-code, and container experience.
- You improve every system—and every team—you join.
This Role Is Not a Fit If...
- You prefer maintaining systems over improving them.
- You wait for tickets instead of finding opportunities.
- You believe AI won't fundamentally change engineering.
- You need detailed direction before taking action.
- You're satisfied once something simply works.
What Success Looks Like (12 Months)
- Engineering teams deploy faster with greater confidence.
- Platform automation eliminates significant manual work.
- Observability provides faster production insight.
- AI is embedded into platform engineering workflows.
- Platform is viewed as an accelerator—not a bottleneck.
Why This Role Matters
Platform engineering isn't a support function—it's a force multiplier.
When Platform improves, engineering moves faster, deployments become safer, customers receive value sooner, and the business scales more efficiently.
We don't measure success by how much infrastructure you build. We measure it by how much leverage you create for everyone around you.
Culture
Relentless Execution • Client Obsessed • Hungry & Humble • Resourceful Problem Solvers • 1% Better Every Day • Always Keep Your Promises
We move quickly. We value ownership over titles, outcomes over activity, and continuous improvement over comfort. If you're looking for a place where your work has visible impact and your ideas shape how engineering operates, you'll thrive here.
