Senior Robotics Software Engineer

🤖 We're hiring: Senior Robotics Software Engineer
Getting a quadruped robot to balance in simulation is one thing. Getting it to walk steadily across a construction site, a farm field, or deep inside a mine is something else entirely.
That's exactly the challenge at BotBot. BotBrain is our modular, hardware-agnostic control system, and we're looking for someone to join the team on the hardest part of it: locomotion, stability, and advanced control for bipedal and quadrupedal robots in the real world.
Here you'll be hands-on end to end, from designing balance and perception algorithms to practical validation in the lab and in the field, working side by side with the team to shape how our robots sense, decide, and move in real industrial environments: agribusiness, logistics, construction, and mining.
If you know ROS 2 and Reinforcement Learning inside out and have taken robots from simulator to field, we'd love to meet you.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Robotics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields. A graduate degree or specialization in related areas is a plus.
Experience
- 5+ years of experience developing bipedal and/or quadrupedal robots, with a focus on locomotion, stability, and advanced control.
- Proven experience in complex projects involving ROS 2 and Reinforcement Learning (e.g., Deep Q-Learning, PPO, SAC).
- Solid background in robot simulation (e.g., Gazebo, Isaac Sim) and hands-on validation.
Skills
- Expertise in dynamics, kinematics, and mechatronics applied to advanced robots.
- Proficiency in advanced programming (C++ and Python), with a focus on critical systems.
- Solid knowledge of perception system integration (computer vision, LIDAR) and navigation.
- Advanced command of ROS 2, including package customization and integration of external libraries.
- Experience with automated testing, field validation of systems, and performance analysis.
- Advanced technical English for international collaboration.
- Strong collaboration, teamwork, and effective communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement locomotion and advanced control solutions for bipedal and quadrupedal robots.
- Develop and integrate complex perception systems for navigation, mapping, and obstacle detection.
- Design robust balance and posture control algorithms adapted to different operational scenarios.
- Contribute to mechatronic design, including the selection of actuators, sensors, and transmission systems with a focus on efficiency and scalability.
- Program and implement critical systems and automated testing pipelines, ensuring high reliability of the solutions.
- Carry out practical validation in the lab and in the field, documenting results and implementing continuous improvements.
- Share technical knowledge with the team and help promote good development practices.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to align technical solutions with the company's strategic goals.
