Mission of the Role
Design, develop, simulate, validate, and measure optical and display systems for automotive applications. The role combines optical engineering, illumination design, laboratory measurements, and metrology expertise.
Key Objectives of the Role:
- Develop optical and illumination solutions for automotive displays and lighting systems.
- Perform optical system design, requirements analysis, component selection, and verification.
- Conduct optical measurements, including luminance, color, contrast, viewing angle, Mura, and camera MTF analysis.
- Build and validate prototypes and engineering samples.
- Manage optical laboratory equipment and develop new capabilities.
- Develop measurement methods, work instructions, and best practices.
- Provide support for global engineering programs across Europe, APAC, and North America.
- Prepare technical reports and recommendations.
- Support LED selection, optical component specification, and illumination BOM creation.
- Drive process improvements and standards compliance.
- On-time delivery of optical engineering and validation activities.
- High-quality technical reports and engineering recommendations.
- Successful execution of optical measurements and product characterisation.
- Development of laboratory capabilities and improvements to measurement processes.
- Compliance with quality, calibration, and engineering standards.
- Effective support of global product development programmes.
- I ndependently perform optical measurements for production and development programmes.
- Deliver validated optical analysis and technical recommendations.
- Contribute to optical design, prototype validation and product optimisation activities.
- Improve at least one laboratory process or measurement capability.
- Support multiple global programmes through timely engineering execution.
- Establish expertise in Visteon's optical metrology tools, methods and standards.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, or related field.
- 2-5+ years of experience in optical engineering, illumination design, or optical metrology.
- Knowledge of photometry, colorimetry, and display characterization.
- Experience with laboratory equipment and measurement techniques.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Experience with LightTools, Zemax, Speos, or similar tools is an advantage.
- Automotive product development experience is preferred.
