What To Expect
As part of our institute, you will lead an existing team of young researchers working on maritime civil security simulations. The position focuses on constructive simulations, in which simulated agents operate simulated systems. Such simulations are used to:
- Evaluate the effectiveness of security equipment, such as sensors and platforms
- Analyse operational concepts for the use of this equipment and train operators
Your task
- Providing technical guidance for the development of constructive simulation software for applications in maritime security
- Conducting research on the use and development of constructive simulations for maritime security applications
- Managing research and development projects
- Supporting and mentoring researchers within the team
- Contributing to project planning and the acquisition of third-party funding
Your profile
- A completed university degree (Master’s / Diploma) in Computer Science or other relevant fields of study
- Relevant research experience (at least 2–3 years) in the field of simulation or agent-based modelling, for example acquired through a doctorate or other proven research activities
- Advanced user-level knowledge of programming languages, such as C++ and Python
- Experience in software development
- Knowledge in project planning
- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams
- Experience with third-party funded projects, such as EU funding programmes or national research funding
