You will work with cross-functional hardware, firmware, and ML teams to design, implement, and validate embedded software that runs on resource-constrained devices integrated into vehicle systems.
- Design and implement embedded software for AI wearables and sensor-equipped devices used in vehicle environments
- Integrate and deploy lightweight ML/AI models on embedded platforms and collaborate on model-to-edge deployment pipelines
- Work closely with hardware engineers on board bring-up, peripheral drivers, and hardware/software integration
- Develop firmware for real-time and low-power operation, including RTOS or embedded Linux environments
- Implement unit, integration, and system-level tests; debug issues on target hardware and in-field systems
- Create and maintain technical documentation, software design specs, and API contracts
- Collaborate across product, systems, and QA teams to move features from prototype to production
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (per job posting educational requirement)
- Experience in embedded software development or firmware engineering for device-level systems (wearables, consumer electronics, or automotive-adjacent hardware)
- Familiarity with integrating ML/AI inference on edge or embedded platforms and working with sensor data pipelines
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills with embedded toolchains and hardware debuggers
- Clear communication and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
- Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS), embedded Linux, or low-power microcontroller platforms
- Background in sensor fusion, signal processing, or deploying quantized ML models to edge devices
- Prior experience in the automotive or motor-vehicle parts manufacturing space (preferred)
- Familiarity with CI/CD for embedded systems, hardware bring-up, and field diagnostics
- Location: Chicago, IL — this role is expected to work on-site or be local to the Chicago area as required by project needs.
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Confidential Client will consider applicants in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal hiring laws.
- Opportunity to work at the intersection of embedded systems and on-device AI for vehicle applications
- Cross-functional collaboration with hardware and ML teams on production-grade wearable systems
- A culture focused on innovation, quality, and customer impact
