HIL Automation Engineer

The HIL Test Engineer is responsible for designing, executing, and maintaining Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test systems to validate embedded control systems, primarily in automotive, aerospace, or industrial applications. This role ensures that software and hardware components function correctly under simulated real-world conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, configure, and maintain HIL test benches and simulation environments
- Design and execute test cases for embedded systems and control algorithms
- Integrate real-time simulation models (e.g., plant models) into HIL systems
- Automate test scripts using tools such as Python, MATLAB/Simulink, or CAPL
- Perform validation of ECUs (Electronic Control Units) under various operating scenarios
- Analyze test results, identify defects, and support root cause analysis
- Collaborate with software, hardware, and systems engineering teams
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and functional safety requirements (e.g., ISO 26262)
- Maintain documentation for test procedures, results, and system configurations
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering or related field
- Experience with HIL systems (e.g., dSPACE, NI, Vector tools)
- Strong knowledge of embedded systems and real-time control
- Familiarity with communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet, FlexRay)
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink and model-based development
- Programming/scripting skills (Python, C, CAPL, or similar)
