Role Overview

Rex.zone is hiring a Robotics Engineer for a remote, full-time position supporting distributed engineering teams targeting Mexico City job search intent. You will design, build, and deploy robotic systems spanning perception, planning, and control, with a focus on reliability, safety, and real-world performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement robotics software components using ROS/ROS2, C++, and Python (nodes, services, messages, lifecycle modules)
  • Develop and tune motion planning and control systems (e.g., PID/MPC), trajectory generation, and state estimation
  • Build perception pipelines (camera/LiDAR/IMU), sensor calibration, sensor fusion, SLAM, and localization
  • Validate in simulation (e.g., Gazebo) and on hardware; close sim-to-real gaps with testing, logging, and root-cause analysis
  • Optimize latency and resource usage (CPU/GPU) and meet embedded/real-time constraints where required
  • Drive engineering best practices: code reviews, CI, reproducible builds, and reliability metrics

Required Qualifications

  • Mid-senior experience shipping robotics/autonomy features into production environments
  • Strong C++ and Python skills with modern debugging/profiling practices
  • Hands-on ROS/ROS2 architecture experience and message-based system design
  • Robotics fundamentals: kinematics, dynamics, control theory, estimation, SLAM/localization, planning
  • Experience with sensors (cameras, LiDAR, IMU, encoders) and robust perception/sensor fusion
  • Proven ability to diagnose failures from logs/telemetry and improve robustness under real-world noise

Preferred

  • Nav2, MoveIt, planners/controllers; learning-based perception and deployment
  • Embedded Linux, hardware bring-up, motor drivers, industrial protocols
  • Safety/fault detection, redundancy strategies, fleet telemetry, OTA updates

Compensation

Base pay range: $30–$50 per hour (USD), depending on skills and experience.
