Howmet Aerospace is currently looking for an Automation Technician to join our Howmet Casting plant in Wichita Falls, Texas. Must be able to work an off shift.
JOB SUMMARY:
Installs, programs, and repairs robots and related automated equipment, such as programmable controllers, robot controllers, end-of-arm tools, conveyors, parts orienters. Uses power tools, hand tools, and testing instruments. Follows manuals, schematic diagrams, and blue prints.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Review related manuals, blueprints, and schematic diagrams to determine tasks to be performed
- Understanding of electronic application, electrical circuits, mechanical equipment, pneumatics, hydraulics, and programming of the various controllers and robots.
- Documentation of the automation processes throughout the life cycle of the process.
- Participate in any quality audits pertaining to Automation.
- Programs robot to perform specified tasks, applying knowledge of programming language using teach pendants, keyboards, control panels, or robot controllers.
- Modifies programs to refine movement of robot using the various controllers.
- Observes robots and related equipment to detect malfunctions, and repairs or replaces defective parts using hand tools and power tools.
- Observes and maintains quality of the automation processes.
- Initiates and maintains documentation throughout the development and qualification process.
- Other duties as required.
- Require (at times) work to be performed in a hot environment.
- Work requires moderate physical effort (lift 35 lbs).
- Work requires physical effort such as lifting, bending, standing, sitting, handling, reaching with hands and arms.
- Must pass Jaeger I eye exam.
- Common hand tools.
- PLC Software, Trouble shooting devices and meters.
- Motoman robot controllers and teach pendants.
- Personal Computers.
- Requires wearing safety glasses, ear plugs and Metatarsal Guard shoes.
- Works in air conditioned area with time in hot areas of the plant.
- Slight exposure to chemicals, fumes, oil, dust, noise and heat or cold.

- High School diploma or GED equivalency required.
- This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
- This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.
- Prefer Associate Degree and technical training.
- Minimum of 3 years experience with related job functions.
- Prefer robot programming experience.
- Prefer PLC programming and troubleshooting experience.
- Prefer panel building and machine wiring experience.
- Prefer schematic and blueprint reading experience.
