Role Description The Automation Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in McAllen, TX, responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automated systems used in the production and testing of foodservice equipment. This role includes developing and optimizing control logic, integrating robotics and automation hardware, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve manufacturing efficiency and product quality. Day-to-day tasks involve diagnosing and resolving equipment and process issues, performing root-cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions to ensure reliable operation. The Automation Engineer will create and maintain technical documentation, support commissioning of new equipment, and provide training and guidance to operations and maintenance personnel. This position may also participate in continuous improvement initiatives, safety reviews, and standardization of automation practices across the facility.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess skills in Automation and Process Control to design, program, and optimize automated systems and production lines.
- Candidates should possess skills in Electrical Engineering to work with wiring, controls, sensors, PLCs, and industrial power systems.
- Candidates should possess skills in Robotics to integrate, configure, and maintain robotic equipment and related interfaces.
- Candidates should possess strong Troubleshooting skills to diagnose equipment faults, process deviations, and system failures in real time.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with PLC programming, HMI configuration, industrial communication protocols, and SCADA systems is highly beneficial.
- Familiarity with manufacturing environments, safety standards, and continuous improvement methodologies (such as Lean or Six Sigma) is preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively on-site, communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and manage multiple projects and priorities.
