Senior Design Engineer


Product & System Design Leadership

  • Lead the design and development of complex mechanical systems, vehicle subsystems, and engineered products from concept through production.
  • Develop and evaluate innovative engineering solutions utilizing advanced technologies, materials, and manufacturing methods.
  • Create and manage 3D CAD models, assemblies, detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of materials.
  • Perform engineering calculations, trade studies, and design analyses to support component and system selection.
  • Apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) principles and industry drafting standards to ensure design accuracy and manufacturability.
  • Conduct design reviews and ensure compliance with performance, reliability, safety, quality, and customer requirements.


Analysis, Simulation & Validation

  • Perform system-level modeling and engineering analysis to validate design decisions.
  • Utilize Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools to evaluate structural performance and optimize designs.
  • Develop Design Verification Plans and Reports (DVP&R), testing methodologies, and validation procedures.
  • Interpret test results and implement design improvements based on engineering findings.


Technical Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Provide technical direction and mentorship to engineers, designers, and drafters.
  • Establish priorities, delegate technical work, and guide project execution for small engineering teams.
  • Serve as a primary engineering point of contact for customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Support manufacturing operations by resolving technical issues, evaluating engineering change requests (ECRs), and ensuring successful production implementation.
  • Investigate, analyze, and resolve engineering issues throughout the product lifecycle.


Program & Customer Support

  • Prepare technical proposals, quotations, presentations, specifications, and engineering reports.
  • Communicate program status, technical risks, and design recommendations to leadership and customers.
  • Provide engineering support for prototype builds, pilot programs, production activities, and fielded products.
  • Partner with project managers and program teams to ensure technical deliverables are achieved on schedule.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related Engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in product development, mechanical design, vehicle systems, or related industries.
  • Strong experience designing mechanical systems and components using 3D CAD tools.
  • Experience performing engineering analysis and validation activities.
  • Ability to lead technical efforts and influence cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Creo, NX, CATIA, SolidWorks, or comparable CAD platforms.
  • Experience with ANSYS, HyperMesh, or similar FEA tools.
  • Working knowledge of Windchill or Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle architecture, automotive systems, defense vehicles, or mobile equipment.
  • Experience with prototype development, testing, and production support environments.
  • Technical leadership experience leading small engineering teams or projects.
  • Experience supporting defense, military, aerospace, automotive, or advanced mobility programs.
