About DeDrone
DeDrone is Axon's airspace security platform, helping enterprises, defense agencies, and public safety organizations detect, identify, and track unauthorized drones before they become a threat. Since joining Axon, DeDrone has become a core part of Axon's Drone as First Responder (DFR) ecosystem, combining hardware sensors, RF/acoustic/visual detection, and software intelligence to protect critical infrastructure, large-scale events, and national security operations worldwide.
About the Role
We're looking for a Staff Engineer to join the DeDrone team in Romania and take technical ownership of how our systems integrate, scale, and evolve. This is a senior IC role for someone who thrives at the intersection of deep technical depth and cross-team influence — someone who can define architecture, unblock hard integration problems, and raise the technical bar across the team.
You'll work closely with engineering teams across DeDrone and the broader Axon organization, as well as external partners, to ensure our systems are well-architected, consistent, and built to scale.
What You'll Do
● Define and govern system architecture and integration strategy across DeDrone's platform
● Act as a technical bridge between engineering teams and external partners
● Guide implementation decisions and ensure technical consistency across teams and services
● Support complex integration challenges and unblock teams facing hard technical problems
● Mentor engineers and lead technical discussions, raising the overall engineering bar
What We're Looking For
● 8+ years of experience in software or systems engineering
● Strong background in distributed systems and system integration
● Proven experience providing cross-team technical leadership, without needing formal management authority
● Comfort operating at both the architecture level and in the details of hard implementation problems
● Strong communication skills — able to align engineering teams and external partners around a shared technical direction
Nice to Have
● Experience in hardware/software integration, IoT, or sensor-driven systems
● Background in security, defense, or public safety technology
● Experience working across distributed, multi-region engineering teams
