Overview Of The Role
WestJet is seeking a Procurement Specialist. Reporting to the Director - Procurement Process & Strategy, the Procurement Specialist is responsible for driving continuous improvement across WestJet’s procurement, contracting, and supply chain processes. This role applies Lean methodologies, process mapping, and system optimization to enhance efficiency, transparency, and value delivery. The Specialist partners cross-functionally to identify gaps, standardize procedures, and implement scalable solutions. They also support the evolution of procurement systems and develop a forward-looking capability roadmap.
Key Deliverables Include
- Apply Lean methodology to identify inefficiencies, eliminate waste, and drive continuous improvement across procurement and supply chain processes
- Develop and maintain value stream maps, process documentation, playbooks, and standard operating procedures
- Assess process and system gaps, recommending and implementing improvements to enhance functionality and user experience
- Support and administer procurement systems (including Coupa), managing workflows, supplier data, and system configurations
- Create reporting and dashboards to provide insights and support data-driven decision-making
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and optimize end-to-end procure-to-pay processes
- Develop and maintain a 1-, 3-, and 5-year roadmap for procurement capabilities, including supporting business cases
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- 5 to 8 years’ experience and a track record of driving continuous improvement and achieving process excellence in procurement, sourcing, contracting, and supply chain functions.
- Formal Lean education and certification; and trainer experience are preferred.
- Proficiency in process optimization and value stream mapping.
- Expertise in SCM systems assessment, technology roadmap development, and driving ongoing process, data, and tool improvements.
- A substantial background in procurement, contracts, and supply chain.
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills.
- Hands-on experience with Coupa, including administration of core modules such as Supplier Information / Risk Management, procurement, invoicing, and supplier management.
- Experience configuring workflows, approvals, and reporting, with a solid understanding of Procure-to-Pay (P2P) processes within a procurement or supply chain environment.
- Familiarity with ERP integrations (e.g., JDE) and reporting tools such as Power BI; experience with platforms like Microsoft or ServiceNow is an asset.
