Senior Mechatronics Engineer - Colorado or Massachusetts

About Us

We are building advanced robotics and automation systems that transform traditionally manual industrial processes into intelligent, efficient, and scalable operations. Our multidisciplinary team develops tightly integrated hardware and software solutions that move rapidly from concept to real-world deployment.

As a fast-growing startup, we offer the opportunity to work on challenging engineering problems, take ownership of key technical decisions, and help bring innovative robotic products to market.

The Role

We are seeking a Senior Mechatronics Engineer to lead the design and development of complex electro-mechanical systems for our robotic products.

You will work across the full product lifecycle from concept and prototyping through testing, production release, and field deployment - collaborating closely with software, controls, electrical, and manufacturing teams. This is a hands-on role requiring strong mechanical design expertise, systems thinking, and a passion for building robust automation solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electro-mechanical systems, robotic mechanisms, tooling, and automation subsystems from concept through production.
  • Specify and integrate actuators, motors, sensors, pneumatic components, and motion systems.
  • Create CAD models, engineering drawings, assemblies, and BOMs for complex mechanical systems.
  • Perform engineering analysis including FEA, tolerance analysis, load calculations, and kinematic studies.
  • Prototype, test, troubleshoot, and validate designs through hands-on development and root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with software, controls, electrical, and manufacturing teams to deliver integrated system solutions.
  • Apply Design for Manufacturing (DfM), reliability, and cost optimization principles throughout development.
  • Support supplier engagement, production release, and field deployment activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience developing complex electro-mechanical, robotic, or industrial automation systems.
  • Proven experience designing products from concept through production release.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools such as Onshape, SolidWorks, or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, engineering drawings, and mechanical design best practices.
  • Experience performing engineering analysis, including FEA and tolerance analysis.
  • Hands-on prototyping, testing, debugging, and system integration experience.
  • Experience with PLM/PDM systems, BOM management, and engineering change processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
  • Experience developing robotic, industrial automation, or autonomous systems.
  • Expertise in linkage design, kinematics, dynamics, and motion system development.
  • Familiarity with industrial controls, sensors, and electromechanical integration.
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers and production-scale hardware.
  • Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DfM), reliability engineering, and product validation.
  • Experience supporting field deployments and troubleshooting complex systems.
  • MATLAB and/or Python experience.
