Role Summary

The Robotics and Automation Technical Specialist is a 9-month full-time position that develops curriculum, teaches courses, advises students, and supports the continued operations and development of the Center for Applied Robotics and Automation (CARA) and the Advanced Manufacturing program. Responsibilities

· Provide academic instruction in the University's Center for Applied Robotics and Automation and the Advanced Manufacturing program

· Develop new course curriculum and ensure course content meets accreditation requirements

· Develop syllabi for courses and ensure course content meets accreditation requirements

· Use a variety of proven methods of engagement and assessment that facilitate student mastery of course content

· Provide students with constructive and corrective feedback

· Evaluate student learning by creating and applying course competencies and accurately evaluating student progress

· Assist with student advising

· Provide scheduled office hours for student consultation

· Utilize Blackboard, Slate for assignments, announcements, grades, and feedback

· Serve on departmental and university-wide committees

· Participate in recruitment and retention activities

· Participate in program assessment

· Serve on committees

· Perform other duties as assigned


Essential Qualifications

· A.S. Degree in Advanced Manufacturing, Robotics, Automation, or related area, bachelor’s degree preferred

· Strong verbal and written communication skills.

· Demonstrated experience in curriculum development

· Experience with measuring tools, i.e., calipers, tape measures, rulers, laser distance measures, and proper hand tool usage.

· Ability to transfer robotics and automation knowledge into practical student lesson plans.

· Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, robotics, PLC programming, data collection and analysis, and automation principles.

· Broad-based understanding of manufacturing operations, including robotics, quality systems and lean manufacturing.

· Strong knowledge of robotic vision systems.

· Demonstrated experience and adequate understanding of process assembly, inspection, electrical, machine controls, automation, and tool design.

· Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing or related industry

· Ability to foster a positive learning environment for students

· Commitment to serve a diverse community


Supplemental Skills / Experience

· FANUC, Siemens, or other industry certifications

· Experience teaching at the college level

· Experience using Banner, Blackboard LMS, Simple Syllabus, and Degree Works
