About The Role
As AV Safety Manager, you are the custodian of safety across Moove AV’s autonomous vehicle operations in Dubai. You will ensure risks are transparent, consistently understood, and immediately addressed, implementing and maintaining safety programmes within an established global framework in one of the world’s most ambitious autonomous mobility markets.
This is a important safety role with accountability across safety assurance, incident investigation, regulatory compliance, and vendor management. You will work closely with the General Manager and cross-functional teams to monitor safety performance, drive predictive risk mitigation, and maintain the highest operational standards across all Dubai sites. This role requires full availability across a 24/7 operation and the ability to respond rapidly to multiple scenarios simultaneously.
What You’ll Be Doing
Safety Assurance and Performance Monitoring
- Monitor and analyse key safety performance indicators, trends, interventions, and anomalies to support validation of the safety case and flag required operational controls or risk mitigation strategies to the relevant lead.
- Ensure the fleet is operationally ready for deployment by conducting comprehensive readiness assessments and evaluating site and fleet performance
- Drive predictive maintenance capabilities, manage upgrades, and ensure stringent compliance with all safety and regulatory standards
- Track KPIs and deliver timely, insightful safety reports to stakeholders
- Lead site safety programme functions including weekly Safety Stand-Downs and Safety Concern Reporting workstreams
- Remediate non-conformance issues as identified through audits, reporting, or incident review
- Conduct routine tabletop exercises with vendors to maintain a robust incident readiness programme
- Build and own local safety programmes, adapting global frameworks to the Dubai operational context
- Lead investigation of safety incidents, near-misses, and anomalies; identify root causes and implement corrective actions
- Serve as the on-call safety authority for 24/7 incident response across all Dubai operations
- Maintain complete, audit-ready documentation of all safety events, investigations, and remediation actions
- Collaborate closely with the General Manager to define and execute strategies for enhancing fleet health and safety
- Manage and cultivate relationships with third-party vendors and partners to ensure consistent, high safety performance standards
- Partner with Fleet Operations, Field Operations, Training, and the Global Safety Team to embed safety standards across all functions
- Build and maintain cross-functional relationships with operations, security, facilities, and central operations teams
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety Science, Safety Risk Management, Logistics, Transportation, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
- Strong knowledge of UAE transport regulations, RTA requirements, and relevant international safety standards; familiarity with DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA frameworks a strong advantage
- Preferred certifications: OSHA 500/501 or Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
- Strong familiarity with Kaizen frameworks and continuous improvement methodologies strongly preferred
- Proven ability to influence across all levels and build a safety-first culture
- Strong analytical skills with working proficiency in Google Workspace and data management in spreadsheets
- Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable engaging executives, regulators, and frontline staff
- Highly adaptable; able to respond quickly and simultaneously to multiple scenarios in fast-paced, high-stress environments
- Self-motivated with sound judgement and full availability for a 24/7 operation
- Fluent in English; Arabic a strong advantage
