Overview:

Terra Robotics, an innovative Agri-tech startup based in Thessaloniki, Greece, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineering Lead to spearhead our engineering efforts. This strategic role focuses on leading a high-performing team, managing the end-to-end product lifecycle, and ensuring our products achieve peak reliability and market alignment. The ideal candidate will be a technical authority in mechanical design and mechatronics, driving the structural analysis and manufacturing excellence required to bring innovative agricultural solutions from concept to mass production. You will be responsible for defining technical roadmaps and validating hardware deployment in real-world environments, ensuring our products are optimized for global impact.


Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead the design and development of robotic systems and smart tools for agriculture.
  • Mentor and lead junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and support scaling the team.
  • Plan and execute the mechanical technical roadmap, overseeing multiple projects to ensure timely and high-quality delivery.
  • Drive DFM, DFA, and DFS initiatives to optimize systems for cost-efficiency, manufacturability, and serviceability.
  • Manage the full product development lifecycle, from initial concept to mass production and field support.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with software, electronics, manufacturing and supply chain teams.
  • Conceptualize, design, and refine mechanical assemblies and components for robotic applications in harsh environments.
  • Specify materials, coatings, and finishes for agricultural use cases.
  • Review detailed CAD models and drawings.
  • Develop and execute test plans to evaluate and validate robotic systems and smart farming tools.
  • Support supplier sourcing and qualification and manage suppliers.
  • Own the EBOM and contribute to MBOM and SBOM creation.
  • Participate in open field tests and validate the deployment of the hardware in real conditions.


Qualifications:

  • MS degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Proven expertise in structural design, sheet metal design and complex systems.
  • Experience in leading engineering teams and complex technical projects.
  • Proven expertise in PDM/PLM systems, GD&T standards, and FMEA methodologies.
  • Strong product mindset with a deep understanding of product lifecycles, cost-optimization, and design for reliability.
  • Proficient in CAD software.
  • Experience with stress analysis of systems, sub-systems, and components.
  • Knowledge and experience in manufacturing methods.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and perform effectively in a fast pacing Start-up environment.
  • Passion for innovation and a desire to make a positive impact on the future of agriculture.
  • Fluency in Greek and English.
