Engineering Manager - Liverpool (2 days a week) - Up to £90k

A well-established organisation in the automotive marketing space is hiring an Engineering Manager to join at a key moment of transformation. Their platforms power high-intent buying journeys, processing hundreds of thousands of customer interactions each year for some of the world’s biggest automotive brands.

They’re now rebuilding a core platform from the ground up on a modern Node.js stack, while reshaping the engineering function around an AI-first approach. Strong foundations are already in place, with real opportunity to shape how the team operates and scales over the next phase of growth.

The role:

Engineering Manager. You’ll sit at the centre of a small, senior team (~5–6 engineers), owning delivery, people management and team performance. This role is more focused on leadership, process and execution rather than being the deepest technical expert (Principal Engineers lead on architecture), but still close enough to the code to stay credible and effective. High ownership, high visibility.

What you’ll do:

• Own delivery across the platform, ensuring consistent, high-quality output
• Line manage and develop a team of engineers (1-1s, performance, progression)
• Drive team processes, ways of working and engineering culture
• Partner with product and leadership to prioritise and plan effectively
• Support hiring and help scale the engineering function
• Stay close to the codebase to guide and unblock engineers where needed

Tech environment

• Node.js, TypeSript
• React / Next.js
• Cloud platforms (Azure preferred, AWS or GCP also relevant)
• Modern CI/CD, APIs and distributed systems
• AI tooling embedded into engineering workflows
