I'm currently partnering with a leading manufacturer of automated industrial equipment on a confidential search for a Manager of Equipment Engineering.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineering leader to take ownership of a multidisciplinary engineering function, leading the design, development, and delivery of custom automated machinery for a diverse range of industrial markets.
The successful candidate will lead mechanical, electrical, and controls engineering teams while driving engineering excellence through improved processes, standardisation, and project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team across mechanical, electrical, and controls engineering.
- Oversee the full product development lifecycle, from concept and design through validation, release, and ongoing product support.
- Drive engineering best practices, including design reviews, documentation standards, configuration management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Partner closely with Sales, Project Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, and Service to ensure successful project delivery.
- Support customer design reviews, technical discussions, and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).
- Manage engineering resources, budgets, KPIs, and departmental performance while developing and mentoring engineering talent.

Ideal Background:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of engineering experience, including at least 5 years leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Proven experience delivering automated industrial equipment or custom machinery within an OEM or systems integration environment.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design, controls systems, automation architecture, CAD/PDM/PLM systems, and engineering documentation.
- Experience implementing engineering processes, driving continuous improvement, and leading cross-functional project execution.
- Familiarity with industrial machine safety standards (ANSI, NFPA 79, ISO 13849, UL508A) is highly desirable.
