Veterans Benefits Paralegal
An established legal practice is seeking an experienced Veterans Benefits Paralegal to support attorneys and senior legal professionals in representing veterans through the VA disability claims and appeals process. This role is ideal for someone with direct experience handling Veterans Disability cases who is passionate about helping clients navigate complex benefits matters.
Responsibilities
- Review client records and conduct legal research to support case preparation.
- Work with clients to complete required forms, authorizations, and releases for medical, military, and Social Security records.
- Prepare and file VA claims, appeals, and supporting correspondence.
- Guide clients through the VA benefits process and answer questions regarding their claims.
- Manage a high-volume caseload while meeting filing deadlines and maintaining consistent client communication.
- Review VA decisions and verify that all required documentation is maintained within client files.
- Maintain accurate electronic case records using a case management system.
- Provide professional, compassionate support throughout the claims and appeals process.
Work Schedule
- Full-time
- Monday through Friday
- 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
- Remote candidates may work from anywhere within the United States with reliable high-speed internet access, or work onsite in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-5 years of paralegal experience handling Veterans Disability cases.
- Candidates without direct Veterans Disability case experience will not be considered.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting strict deadlines.
- High level of attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using Neos Case Management or similar legal case management software.
- Experience working in a fast-paced legal environment with high-volume caseloads.
