Position Summary:

Penn Foster Group is seeking a highly engaged and experienced Healthcare Program Specialist to support the development and growth of innovative healthcare education programs. This role will serve as a strategic academic and program development team member focused on designing and launching high-quality healthcare programs that align with workforce demands, learner needs, and national certification exams. Reporting to the Senior Academic Director of College and Career, the Healthcare Program Specialist will collaborate closely with internal departments and external partners. This role requires a strong understanding of healthcare education and training, online learning, learner engagement, and program design. They must also be able to translate organizational vision into scalable, learner-centered educational experiences. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with broad healthcare knowledge, strong communication and collaboration skills, experience in education and workforce training environments. They must have the ability to guide program development from concept through launch, monitor learner progression post-launch to identify, and analyze performance data to identify trends, inform strategic decisions and drive continuous improvement.

Essential Job Functions:

Strategic Program Development

  • Partner with internal departments and external partners to develop and launch new healthcare programs.
  • Support the design and structure of healthcare learning experiences aligned with workforce trends, learner outcomes, and business goals.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation, expansion, and continuous improvement across healthcare program offerings.
  • Conduct research on industry trends, competitor programs, and healthcare workforce needs to inform program strategy.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Serve as Penn Foster Group’s academic representative in ongoing collaboration meetings with external partners.
  • Work closely with learning experience, product, operations, and academic teams throughout the program development lifecycle.
  • Facilitate alignment between academic quality standards, learner experience goals, and operational execution.

Curriculum & Learner Experience Support

  • Contribute to program and curriculum planning, including course sequencing, competency alignment, learner engagement strategies, and assessment considerations.
  • Provide guidance and feedback on instructional materials and program structure to ensure quality and learner-centered design.
  • Support the development of programs that reflect best practices in online, adult, and cohort-based education.

Academic & Operational Excellence

  • Ensure healthcare programs align with institutional standards, accreditation, state licensing requirements, and workforce expectations.
  • Assist with documentation, reporting, and communication related to program development initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required in a healthcare related field, master’s degree or higher preferred.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in online education, workforce training, healthcare education, or program development.
  • Experience supporting curriculum or program design initiatives.
  • Familiarity with healthcare education programs, certifications, or workforce pathways.
  • Experience working cross-functionally in collaborative, fast-paced environments.

Skills & Competencies

  • Broad understanding of healthcare industry trends and healthcare education pathways.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
  • Understanding of online pedagogy and learner engagement best practices.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience with learning management systems and education technologies preferred.
  • Ability to work independently while navigating ambiguity and evolving priorities.

Work Environment & Hiring Requirements

  • Role Assessment: Candidates will be required to complete a role-specific assessment as the first step in the hiring process. Assessment results will be used to evaluate alignment with the position and determine next steps in the process.
  • Recorded Video Interviews: All video interviews conducted during the hiring process will be recorded to support internal hiring consistency and process improvement.
  • Background Checks: Employment with Penn Foster Group is contingent upon successfully completing applicable pre-employment screening requirements, which may include verification of employment history, education, and criminal background, where permitted by law.
  • Identity Verification (Form I-9): As part of our onboarding process, all hires must complete employment eligibility verification in compliance with federal law. This includes remote Form I-9 verification, which may require an in-person identity verification step with an authorized representative.
  • On-Camera Work Environment: We operate in a highly collaborative, remote, on-camera culture when working remotely. Employees are expected to be on camera during meetings unless extenuating circumstances apply.
