We're seeking a Principal Technical Product Manager with deep robotics engineering expertise to architect and drive transformative automation solutions. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience in robotic systems development, including motion planning, control systems, computer vision, and machine learning. You should be able to dive deep into technical discussions about SLAM algorithms, inverse kinematics, real-time control architectures, and sensor fusion while maintaining a strategic product vision. You'll need to understand the intricacies of ROS, real-time operating systems, and embedded systems development to effectively guide engineering decisions. In this role, you'll work closely with robotics engineers and scientists to solve challenges in perception, manipulation, and HRI systems. You must be able to evaluate technical tradeoffs in areas like mechanical design, control systems architecture, and AI/ML implementation while considering customer value, business impact and scalability. You'll drive product strategy that pushes the boundaries of what's possible in robotic automation at scale.
Key job responsibilities
- Serve as the Voice of the Customer for the product line throughout its life cycle from initial concept creation to launch, and subsequent support of the product.
- Identify new product opportunities by evaluating the business needs and understanding customer pain points and value drivers
- Write business and product requirements documents and ensure clear communication and coordination of requirements to the business, design and development teams.
- Participate as a member of the core team during development, including research, requirements definition, metrics analysis, implementation, testing, and launch efforts.
- Work cross-functionally to manage bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make trade-offs, balance the business needs versus technical constraints, and maximize business benefit while building great customer experiences.
- Measure and analyze existing products for opportunities to innovate and improve, providing additional benefits to customers
- Present confidently in a written format to Amazon senior management as well as other large audiences
- Demonstrate deep understanding of the scientific research landscape, including research methodologies, common challenges in scientific workflows, and emerging trends in the scientific community to inform product decisions and effectively address researcher needs
- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
- Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
- Experience delivering large, cross-functional, customer facing products
- 7+ years of new hardware products development experience
- Hardware product management experience for robotic systems
- Experience in project management methodologies, business analysis, or process improvement
- Experience developing products for large volume production
- Experience working directly with Scientists and Engineers

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
