About The Role

Rex.zone is hiring a Mid-Senior Robotics Engineer to build and deploy robot software for real-world automation. This is an explicitly Remote, full-time role focused on ROS/ROS2 development, SLAM/localization, perception, sensor fusion, motion planning, and field validation to improve reliability and safety.

What You Will Do

  • Design and implement robotics software components for perception, localization, planning, and control using ROS/ROS2 nodes and services.
  • Build and maintain pipelines for sensor ingestion (LiDAR, camera, IMU, wheel odometry) plus calibration and synchronization.
  • Develop SLAM and localization solutions, tune parameters, and validate performance in changing environments.
  • Implement motion planning and trajectory generation with safety and real-time constraints.
  • Create simulation and HIL test suites; run field tests and convert logs into actionable fixes.
  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and product teams to translate requirements into reliable robot behaviors.
  • Define acceptance criteria, write documentation, and enforce coding standards and CI/CD quality gates.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years in robotics software engineering, autonomy, or adjacent embedded/real-time roles.
  • Strong C++ and Python on Linux; debugging, profiling, and performance optimization skills.
  • Hands-on ROS/ROS2 experience (TF, message types, rosbag/logging, lifecycle management).
  • Working knowledge of SLAM/localization and practical deployment constraints.
  • Perception and sensor fusion fundamentals (e.g., EKF/UKF, feature tracking, point cloud processing).
  • Ability to work remotely with clear written communication and disciplined issue tracking.

Preferred

  • Nav2/MoveIt/OMPL, OpenCV, simulation (Gazebo/Ignition or Isaac Sim), Docker, and safety/fail-safe design exposure.

Compensation

Hourly base pay range: $30–$50/hr (USD).
