Medical Robotics Engineer
Indexed description
Core Responsibilities
- Develop robotics software modules for perception, localization, mapping, motion planning, and control.
- Integrate sensors (stereo/RGB-D cameras, IMU, encoders, force/torque) and implement sensor fusion for stable state estimation.
- Build simulation and test harnesses to evaluate performance, safety, and reliability under representative clinical scenarios.
- Define and document requirements, interfaces, and test protocols supporting traceability and design controls.
- Execute verification and validation activities, including automated tests, performance benchmarking, and regression testing.
- Collaborate with QA/RA to align development with ISO 13485, ISO 14971, and IEC 62304 expectations.
- 4+ years of experience in robotics engineering, robotics software, or adjacent autonomy systems.
- Strong C++ and Python proficiency with production-quality engineering practices.
- Experience with ROS/ROS2, middleware integration, and robotics debugging tooling.
- Working knowledge of perception (computer vision), SLAM/state estimation, and motion planning/control fundamentals.
- Experience creating test plans and measurable acceptance criteria; comfort with hardware-in-the-loop and simulation.
- Experience with medical devices, regulated engineering workflows, and DHF documentation.
- Familiarity with safety concepts, risk controls, and reliability engineering for human-interactive robots.
- Experience with real-time systems, embedded Linux, and performance optimization on edge compute.
