Project Overview:

The Infrastructure GBU's Renewables & Clean Power business line is executing the Maple Creek Combined Cycle Power Project, a new natural gas-fired generation facility designed to provide reliable, efficient, and flexible power generation to support growing energy demand. The project will be executed utilizing Bechtel's proven Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) execution model, integrated digital delivery tools, and Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) processes to achieve safe, predictable, and efficient project delivery.

The Lead Electrical Field Engineer will initially be based in Reston, Virginia, supporting project planning, constructability reviews, electrical work package development, material planning, procurement coordination, temporary power planning, and execution readiness activities. During this phase, travel to the Maple Creek project site and other Bechtel offices may be required. Upon completion of project setup activities, the successful candidate will mobilize to the project site to support electrical construction execution and field engineering activities.

Working closely with Engineering, Construction, Project Controls, Supply Chain, Startup, and subcontractors, the Lead Electrical Field Engineer will provide technical leadership for electrical raceway systems, cable installation programs, equipment setting, electrical terminations, testing, energization activities, and system turnover. This role is responsible for ensuring engineering deliverables, materials, and construction activities are aligned to support safe, efficient, and predictable project execution while maintaining compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and construction schedules.

Job Summary:

The Lead Electrical Field Engineer is responsible for activities of the electrical field engineering team relating to construction engineering within the electrical discipline. Duties include interpreting electrical design drawings and specifications, installation installation/fabrication including above ground and below ground raceways, cable pulling, terminations, electrical equipment, temp power design, field verification of materials, and technical direction to field electrical personnel as required. #LI-RM1

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong knowledge and experience with aboveground and underground raceway installation, cable tray systems, conduit systems, cable pulling programs, cable management processes, electrical equipment installation, equipment terminations, grounding systems, lighting systems, temporary power systems, testing, energization, and system turnover activities.
  • Experience supporting field engineering and construction activities on large industrial EPC projects is preferred.
  • Experience on Combined Cycle Power Generation projects is preferred.
  • Candidates with experience supporting power, energy, industrial, manufacturing, petrochemical, LNG, mining, or other large industrial construction projects will also be considered.
  • Experience supporting projects from construction through testing, energization, turnover, and startup activities is preferred.
  • Knowledge of temporary power design and installation, cable routing and pull planning, electrical system testing, lockout/tagout (LOTO) programs, energization planning, subcontractor management, constructability reviews, quantity forecasting, and Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) processes is preferred.
  • Experience coordinating electrical interfaces with civil, structural, mechanical, piping, instrumentation & controls, and startup organizations is highly desirable.
  • Experience interpreting electrical design drawings, single-line diagrams, cable schedules, conduit and raceway layouts, substation drawings, equipment vendor documentation, testing procedures, and construction work packages.
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry codes, standards, and construction practices including NEC, NFPA, NETA, and other applicable electrical installation standards.
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, quantity tracking systems, scheduling tools, and construction automation applications.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and provide technical direction to field supervision, subcontractors, and craft professionals.
  • Maintain, promote, and cultivate a strong safety culture and work environment consistent with Bechtel's Zero Accident Philosophy.
  • Able to work extended work schedules and night shift as required to support project execution plans and schedules.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H), quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Must have work authorization within the United States of America.
