Workday Product Owner / Workday Platform Lead
Full-Time Permanent | Germany | Remote / Hybrid Options Available
The Opportunity:
Shape the future of a global Workday HR platform by taking ownership of its functional direction, continuous improvement, and long-term success.
This is an opportunity for an experienced Workday Product Owner / Platform Lead to sit at the centre of HR, technology, and business transformation - driving the roadmap, governance, optimisation, and adoption of a global Workday environment.
You'll play a key role in defining how Workday evolves, ensuring the platform continues to support business priorities, HR digitalisation goals, and a consistent global user experience.
Working closely with HR, IT, Legal, Data Protection, and business stakeholders, you'll become the trusted owner of the Workday platform from a functional perspective, balancing strategic vision with operational excellence.
German language skills are preferred, with the ability to collaborate effectively across international and cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
- Own the overall functional responsibility for the operation and continuous development of the Workday HR platform.
- Define, prioritise, and govern the Workday functional roadmap, including releases, optimisation initiatives, and enhancements.
- Ensure alignment between Workday capabilities, Group HR strategy, digitalisation objectives, and standardisation goals.
- Establish and lead a global Workday governance and decision-making model.
- Manage functional change, release management, and incident topics from an HR perspective.
- Lead the prioritisation and evaluation of change requests with external Workday partners.
- Own the functional testing strategy, acceptance criteria, and HR approval processes.
- Develop and drive a global Workday enablement and training strategy.
- Establish consistent training, knowledge management, and documentation standards.
- Build sustainable user adoption through key user networks, communities, and support models.
- Act as the functional service owner for Workday, ensuring quality, structure, and continuous improvement of HR services.
- Own global HR data models and ensure ongoing data quality within Workday.
- Ensure compliance with data protection, security roles, and permission concepts, including GDPR and local requirements.
- Partner closely with the IT Platform Owner to ensure stable operation and continuous improvement of the Workday platform.
- Collaborate with IT, Legal, Data Protection teams, and works councils to deliver effective Workday solutions.
About You:
- Successfully completed degree in Business Administration, Business Informatics, or a comparable qualification.
- Strong understanding of HR systems, processes, and digital HR transformation.
- Experience managing or owning a global HR platform such as Workday from a functional perspective.
- Experience managing HR or IT projects within an international environment.
- Strong understanding of Workday governance, roadmap management, and platform optimisation.
- Ability to work independently with a structured, quality-focused approach.
- Strong facilitation, communication, and presentation skills.
- Experience managing stakeholders across HR, IT, and business functions.
- Ability to operate effectively within complex global organisations.
- German language skills are preferred.
