Job Title: Staff Platform Engineer
Location: Bangalore
Business & Team:
The Non-Human Identity (NHI) Platform & Resilience Team within Identity & Access Technology (IAT), Group Security, is responsible for delivering and operating the enterprise capabilities that manage the end-to-end lifecycle of Non-Human Identities.
The team enables secure provisioning, ownership management, access governance, certification, modification, and decommissioning of machine identities, including service accounts, shared accounts, robotic accounts, and other system identities. In addition, the team is responsible for building resilient, scalable, and automated platform services that support identity operations, governance, compliance, and operational excellence.
The Identity & Access Technology (IAT) team protects the Bank and our customers from cyber compromise, through proactive management of cyber security, privacy, and operational risk. Our team includes: - Cyber Protection & Design ,Cyber Delivery ,Identity & Access Assurance

- Define and influence the long-term technical strategy and architecture for NHI and Agentic Identity platforms.
- Lead engineering decisions across squads and crews, providing technical governance and challenge.
- Drive engineering standards, reusable platform patterns, and platform adoption across the Identity domain.
- Coach and develop engineers, contributing to engineering capability uplift and technical excellence.
- Design and evolve enterprise capabilities supporting the end-to-end lifecycle management of Non-Human Identities, including provisioning, ownership, governance, certification, modification and decommissioning.
- Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of Non-Human Identities (NHI), including provisioning, ownership management, access governance, certification, modification, and decommissioning of service accounts, shared accounts, robotic accounts, and other machine identities
- Build and operate resilient platform services supporting NHI lifecycle workflows, ensuring high availability, reliability, performance, and operational excellence of identity services
- Design and implement automation solutions that simplify identity operations, improve engineering efficiency, and reduce operational risk through self-service and API-driven capabilities.
- Lead platform architecture reviews and establish scalable design patterns supporting enterprise adoption of NHI and Agentic Identity services.
- Define secure trust, authentication, authorisation and lifecycle patterns supporting autonomous agents, agent-to-agent interactions, workload identities and emerging AI-enabled platforms.
- Support the lifecycle management of Agentic Identities and AI-driven autonomous systems by designing secure identity, authentication, authorisation, and governance patterns for AI agents and agent-enabled platforms.
- Drive platform resilience activities including incident response, problem management, operational readiness, vulnerability remediation, capacity management, disaster recovery, and continuous service improvement.
- Champion engineering best practices including DevSecOps, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, observability, platform automation, and secure software development throughout the NHI ecosystem.
- Act as a technical leader and mentor, driving engineering excellence, innovation, operational maturity, and adoption of strategic identity platform capabilities across the organisation.
- Improve onboarding velocity for NHI consumers.
- Reduce manual identity administration through automation.
- Improve platform availability and resilience.
- Reduce security and compliance risk.
- Increase adoption of approved NHI patterns.
- Strong understanding of Non-Human Identity and Identity & Access Management (IAM) platforms
- Experience in authentication and authorization (tokens, certificates, APIs)
- Identity lifecycle management (joiner/mover/leaver equivalents for machine identities)
- Cloud-native architecture (AWS/Azure), microservices, and API-driven systems
- CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices
- Event-driven and distributed systems design
- Identity security, governance, and compliance principles
- Secrets management and credential lifecycle management
- Understanding of AI agent lifecycle and identity patterns (desirable)
- Mentoring, influencing, and strong stakeholder communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in engineering in Computer Science/Information Technology
