As an Analyst in our Tax Technology Consulting team, you will serve as a Backend Developer for our AI platform used across professional services.

The backend is built on Python with multiple modules, services, and a comprehensive middleware stack. It features multi-tenant architecture with role-based and attribute-based access control, real-time streaming, and integrations with NoSQL, relational, and in-memory databases as well as cloud services.

You will contribute to the API layer, business logic, data layer, and integration points — developing production-grade backend engineering skills in a multi-tenant environment serving users across multiple countries.

This is a growth-oriented role for someone early in their backend career who wants to build real-world, high-quality production systems

#KeyResponsibilities

• Contribute to the backend codebase — API routes, services, data access layer, and business logic
• Write and maintain API endpoints following established patterns and standards
• Work with the data layer across MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and Redis
• Assist with authentication and authorization flows — Azure AD integration and role-based access control
• Contribute to real-time communication features — SSE streaming and WebSocket notifications
• Build supporting components for data pipelines, scheduled jobs, and workflow orchestration
• Write comprehensive unit and integration tests
• Participate in code reviews — both reviewing and receiving feedback
• Document APIs, service interactions, and data models
• Collaborate with the AI and frontend teams on integration points

#RequiredSkills

To qualify for the role, you must have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• 0–2 years of professional backend engineering experience (internships and academic projects count)
• Solid Python proficiency — comfortable with object-oriented and functional patterns
• Familiarity with web frameworks — FastAPI, Django, Flask, or equivalent
• Basic understanding of databases — at least one of MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or similar
• Understanding of REST API concepts — HTTP methods, status codes, request/response patterns
• Familiarity with async programming concepts in Python
• Basic understanding of version control with Git
• Eagerness to learn and grow in a fast-paced production environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

#PreferredSkills

• Experience with FastAPI and async Python (asyncio)
• Familiarity with MongoDB aggregation pipelines or PostgreSQL query optimization
• Experience with Redis — caching, pub/sub, or distributed locking
• Understanding of authentication patterns (OAuth2, JWT)
• Familiarity with Docker and containerized development environments
• Experience with automated testing in Python (pytest)
• Knowledge of WebSocket or Server-Sent Events (SSE)
• Familiarity with Azure cloud services
• Personal projects demonstrating backend engineering skills
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines
