About The Role
As a Python Developer you will spend most of your day supporting the studio’s Pipeline department. You will work in conjunction with the Department TDs and creative team to ensure software solutions are created and maintained for our high-end visual effect projects.
You will be expected to perform a variety of tasks to assist the Pipeline TDs to ensure the smooth running of the tools, software, and workflows used on our award-winning VFX shows. You will be working closely with the Pipeline TDs to provide face-to-face support for artists.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain software tools and pipelines using Python to support various stages of the VFX production process, including asset management, rendering, simulation, compositing, and other related areas.
- Collaborate with artists, technical directors, and other developers to gather requirements and understand the production needs to design and implement efficient and user-friendly solutions.
- Optimize existing tools and workflows to improve efficiency, performance, and stability.
- Identify and troubleshoot software issues and bugs, and provide timely and effective solutions.
- Integrate and interface different software components and systems to ensure smooth data exchange and interoperability.
- Research and evaluate new technologies, techniques, and industry trends to enhance the studio's production capabilities and stay up to date with the latest developments in the field.
- Document code, tools, and workflows to facilitate knowledge sharing and ensure the maintainability of the developed software.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective communication and alignment of technical requirements and deliverables.
- At least 2 years of professional experience as a Python Developer.
- Strong proficiency in the Python programming language and its libraries commonly used in AI/ML, such as TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, or others.
- Solid understanding of VFX production processes, including asset management, rendering, compositing, and simulation.
- Familiarity with industry-standard VFX software packages and tools, such as Maya, Houdini, Nuke, Jira and associated plugins or others.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and agile software development methodologies.
- Monitor render farm, disk usage and file transfers between sites.
- Contribute to testing and feedback for software releases from the R&D team
- Design and write Python tools and scripts for shows to use
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
