Robotics Software Engineers (Multiple Hires From Junior to Lead) Reinforcement Learning & Behavioural Cloning

A fast growing Australian robotics company | Adelaide or Brisbane, Australia | AUD $120,000 to $250,000

Real robots. Real industrial deployments. Not dancing robot demos.

This company is building industrial robotics: RL and behavioral cloning pipelines running on physical robot arms in live warehouse deployments, with a major industrial demo landing in the next few months. A lean, rapidly scaling team where a single engineer's work ships to real hardware, not a slide deck. No legacy stack, no bureaucracy, no lengthy panel interviews.

They're hiring multiple people across the team, from junior up to lead level. They care about what you can build, not what's on your degree. They've watched bachelor's graduates outperform PhDs. If you're sharp, fast moving, and want to work on real industrial ML instead of another incremental research paper, this is your seat.

Why join:

  • Ship to real hardware, fast: your RL/BC pipelines go straight into production robots doing real industrial work (drilling, sorting, and more)
  • Multiple openings across junior, mid, senior, and lead levels, with real room to grow
  • Salary of $120,000 to $250,000, depending on experience and seniority
  • Flexible arrangement: full time or part time/hybrid if you're finishing a PhD or want to keep research ties
  • Start in as little as 2 weeks, if you're ready
  • Modern stack only: Python, C++, ROS, PyTorch/CUDA, and they're open to you bringing in Rust and other modern tooling
  • A fast, human hiring process: one behavioural chat, one in person brainstorm. That's it.

What You'll Do

Join the core software team building the simulation to real world reinforcement learning and behavioral cloning pipelines that power this company's industrial robots, deployed physically in Adelaide and Brisbane, not just in simulation.

What You'll Bring

  • Strong, current knowledge of reinforcement learning and behavioural cloning pipelines (essential)
  • Computer vision experience is a plus, not required
  • Fluent in Python and C++; comfortable with ROS; experience with PyTorch/CUDA
  • A broad, well rounded skill set with real depth in your core area
  • MSc or PhD in ML, robotics, SLAM, or computer vision, or equivalent demonstrated ability via open source contributions, publications, or awards
  • Connections to CSIRO, QUT, University of Adelaide, or similar research institutions are a plus
  • Ambition and grit; they want people who are commercially minded, applied, and willing to cut corners pragmatically to ship

The Details

  • Location: Adelaide or Brisbane, onsite (physical hardware is deployed in both cities, so no remote)
  • Level: Junior, Mid, Senior, and Lead roles open
  • Type: Full time preferred; part time/hybrid genuinely on the table for candidates maintaining academic research
  • Start date: Flexible, as soon as 2 weeks

Interview Process

  1. Behavioural interview
  2. In person riddle/brainstorming session
