Job Summary
We are seeking a FLEX Associate Software Engineer – CDP to contribute to the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of our Real-Time Customer Data Platform (CDP), and specifically its real-time (same-page & next-page) integration with Marriott’s digital products across web, mobile app, guest room entertainment technology, and more. Working closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams, this individual will assist with data integration, platform configuration, and ongoing operational support. This position is well-suited for an early-career professional with a strong technical foundation, a “learn-by-doing" mindset, and a desire to grow within a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Our digital platforms support millions of guest interactions across web, mobile, and on property experiences every day. Hybrid to Bethesda, MD Headquarters OR ability to travel at least once/quarter.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Required
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Web Development, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
- 0 – 3 years of relevant experience in software engineering, data engineering, or a related technical field (including internships or academic projects)
- Foundational knowledge of REST APIs, JSON payloads, and programming languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript
- Understanding of data structures, event-driven architectures, and real-time integration concepts
- Exposure to Adobe Experience Platform (AEP), Adobe Real-Time Customer Data Platform, Adobe Launch (Tags), AEP Web/Mobile SDK, or comparable technologies
- Familiarity with digital personalization concepts and technologies, such as Adobe Target or similar personalization/testing tools
- Familiarity with privacy and consent concepts (GDPR/CCPA) and how consent affects data collection
- Basic SQL experience and data querying techniques
- Foundational knowledge of data modeling and ETL processes
- Demonstrated competency in writing technical specifications and/or technical documentation/runbook content
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt in a dynamic work environment
- Collaborate with Digital Data Collection and Real-Time Personalization team to implement and maintain web event instrumentation that supports real-time use cases (personalization, audience qualification, measurement)
- Provide technical specifications and support validation of Adobe Launch (Tags) properties and deployments, including: rules, data elements, extensions, environments, publishing workflows
- Assist with implementing and validating Adobe Experience Platform Web SDK event payloads aligned to enterprise standards
- Support instrumentation patterns that allow low-latency decisioning and personalization, such as:
- Capturing user actions and context at the right time
- Ensuring events are sent early enough to support same/next-page experiences and avoid race conditions
- Partner with product teams to integrate data collection into feature releases, ensuring personalization requirements are met without harming performance
- Perform QA in lower environments and production validation using browser tools and platform debugging utilities
- Create and maintain lightweight automated checks or test scripts where appropriate (eg, validating network calls, payload structures, expected events)
- Build expertise in the Adobe ecosystem and internal standards through pairing, training, and hands-on delivery
