(Site-Level Controls) Software Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop site-level control software for energy storage systems.
• Build applications that manage multiple Powerwalls operating within a single installation.
• Develop software that sends commands to and communicates with Electronic Control Units (ECUs).
• Implement reliable communication between devices and cloud services.
• Build robust software capable of operating in environments where reliability is critical.
• Collaborate with firmware, embedded, cloud, and systems engineering teams.
• Troubleshoot system behavior across software and hardware interfaces.
• Participate in software design, implementation, testing, code reviews, and debugging.
• Improve system performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Ensure high software quality through thorough testing and validation.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Strong programming skills in at least one application-level language such as:
• Python
• Java
• C#
• Solid understanding of software engineering principles, object-oriented programming, and debugging.
• Familiarity with networking fundamentals and communication protocols.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  

Preferred Experience

Candidates will stand out if they have experience developing device-connected software, including:

• IoT applications
• Software running on or interacting closely with hardware devices
• Systems where software communicates with cloud services and mobile applications
• Device management platforms

Experience in embedded-adjacent environments is highly valued, even if the role itself is not firmware development.
