C++ Software Developer

Location: Dublin, Ireland (Hybrid)

My client based in Dublin that are seeking an experienced C++ Software Developer to join its growing engineering team.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on the design and development of high-performance, scalable software solutions within a collaborative Agile environment. You will be involved in the full software development lifecycle, working alongside cross-functional teams to deliver robust, efficient and maintainable applications.

Key Responsibilities

Software Development

• Design, develop and maintain high-quality C++ applications.
• Develop scalable, high-performance software solutions with a focus on reliability and efficiency.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle from design through to deployment and support.
• Write clean, maintainable and well-documented code following industry best practices.
• Troubleshoot, debug and resolve software defects.

System Design

• Contribute to software architecture and technical design discussions.
• Optimise application performance, memory usage and system efficiency.
• Develop multithreaded and concurrent applications where required.
• Integrate software with APIs, databases and third-party systems.

Testing & Quality

• Develop and maintain unit and integration tests.
• Participate in peer code reviews to ensure code quality and maintainability.
• Support continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices.
• Ensure software meets performance, security and reliability standards.

Collaboration

• Work closely with Product Owners, QA Engineers and Software Developers to deliver technical solutions.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups and retrospectives.
• Support knowledge sharing and mentoring within the development team.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the engineering function.

Skills & Experience

• 3+ years' commercial experience developing software in C++.
• Strong knowledge of modern C++ (C++11/14/17/20).
• Experience developing high-performance or real-time applications.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and software design principles.
• Experience working in Linux and/or Windows development environments.
• Knowledge of multithreading, concurrency and memory management.
• Experience with STL and Boost libraries.
• Experience using Git or other version control systems.
• Experience with debugging and profiling tools.
• Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies.

Desirable Experience

• Experience with Python or C#.
• Knowledge of network programming or distributed systems.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.
• Experience working within cloud environments (AWS, Azure or GCP).
• Exposure to embedded systems or low-latency applications is advantageous.
• Understanding of software security best practices.
