Our teams are distributed between Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East. We are creative, low-ego and team-spirited.
The Role
As a Software Engineer on the Software Engineering team, you will help build and improve the core systems powering our AI products and operations. You’ll contribute to the platforms that shape how users and developers interact with our AI technology at scale. This role is designed for early-career engineers—new graduates or those with up to 1–2 years of experience—who are eager to learn, collaborate, and deliver impactful solutions alongside experienced mentors.
You’ll work on critical components of our technology stack, from backend services to frontend interfaces, and gain exposure to system architecture, infrastructure, and cross-functional collaboration. Your work will directly influence the reliability, scalability, and user experience of our AI platform.
What You Will Do
- Design, implement, and maintain backend features and APIs using modern frameworks to power authentication, billing, AI tooling, and more.
- Develop scalable and robust user-facing features with TypeScript, React, and Next.js, ensuring seamless integration with backend systems.
- Collaborate with infrastructure teams to deploy, monitor, and optimize system performance in a production environment.
- Write clean, well-tested code and participate in code reviews to uphold team standards and improve internal tools.
- Work with product managers, designers, and engineers across AI Studio, Le Chat, and Mistral Code to deliver end-to-end features.
- Solve real-world engineering challenges, from performance bottlenecks to integrating new AI capabilities.
- Communicate progress, trade-offs, and technical constraints clearly to stakeholders.
- Take ownership of your learning path, experimenting with new technologies and best practices under mentorship.
- A recent graduate (or soon-to-be) with a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, C++, or Golang.
- Solid understanding of core computer science and system architecture fundamentals.
- Experience building software projects through internships, personal initiatives, open-source contributions, or academic work.
- A problem-solver who pays attention to detail and cares about building reliable, user-focused systems.
- Proactive, curious, and willing to own small features end-to-end with guidance.
- Clear communicator who enjoys collaborating in a low-ego, team-oriented environment.
- Interest or exposure to infrastructure (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD), AI/ML engineering, observability tools, or UX/product-centric thinking.
