Senior / Lead Engineer (.NET backend) – Legal Document Intelligence AI Products

New York Manhattan Hybrid 3 days onsite per week

$170-200k base salary + bonus + benefits

My client is a fast-growing global legal technology business building AI-powered products that help law firms and in-house legal teams analyse, classify and extract information from complex legal documents.

They are seeking 2-3 Senior or Lead level Engineers with 5+ years' commercial software engineering experience and strong .NET expertise to build and scale production AI systems at the heart of their platform. AI is central to the product, with a focus on LLM orchestration, document extraction, classification, ranking and intelligent automation. The backend happens to be .NET, but AI is central to the product, not an add-on to a conventional backend role. The candidate(s) will work on production LLM orchestration and document intelligence/extraction.

Key Responsibilities

• Build AI services using C#, ASP.NET Core and Azure
• Design and optimise LLM workflows, prompts and structured outputs.
• Develop evaluation, validation and observability frameworks.
• Build document intelligence, classification and extraction capabilities.
• Provide technical leadership, mentor engineers and influence architecture.

Requirements

• 5+ years' software engineering experience.
• Strong .NET, C#, ASP.NET Core and Azure expertise.
• Experience delivering production AI or LLM-powered applications.
• Knowledge of prompt engineering, LLM orchestration and AI observability.
• Understanding of distributed systems and cloud-native architectures.
