About the Team

In Tax, we work hand-in-hand with leaders across the company to ensure disciplined execution of strategic business objectives while maintaining compliance with global tax and reporting requirements. Our team builds scalable, well-controlled processes that support timely and accurate financial reporting, operational efficiency, and informed decision-making across a rapidly evolving global business environment.

We are seeking a strategic and analytically driven tax leader to scale Uber's global tax forecasting function, including cash tax forecasting, effective tax rate forecasting, and long-range tax planning.

About the Role

As Director, Tax Forecasting, you will scale Uber's global tax forecasting function, serving as the strategic owner of cash tax forecasting, effective tax rate forecasting, and long-range tax planning. You will establish the processes, governance, and analytical models that enable accurate tax forecasting across SEC reporting, strategic planning, and enterprise financial planning.

This role partners closely with leaders across tax, strategic finance, accounting, investor relations, transfer pricing, tax counsel, and tax policy to deliver scalable forecasting capabilities that improve decision-making and support Uber's long-term growth.

Success requires both strategic leadership and operational excellence-you'll define the vision while remaining comfortable diving into complex models, assumptions, and business drivers.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as the central owner and subject matter expert for tax forecasting across Uber globally
  • Advise tax leadership on forecasting impacts, key risks, opportunities, and business changes affecting tax outcomes
  • Establish governance and alignment across finance and tax to ensure consistency, accuracy, and transparency in forecasting assumptions and outputs
  • Partner with strategic finance and other key stakeholders to develop legal entity forecasts supporting quarterly tax provision, strategic planning, and long-range forecasting
  • Drive accountability across regional tax teams for GAAP and Non-GAAP effective tax rate forecasting accuracy and execution
  • Partner with regional tax, tax policy, and tax counsel teams to assess the forecasting implications of regulatory developments, business initiatives, and M&A activity
  • Leverage technology, automation, AI, and data-driven tools to improve forecasting processes and operational efficiency
  • Develop and maintain SOX-compliant controls related to tax forecasting inputs, assumptions, and reliance on external forecasts
  • Lead with a hands-on, problem-solving mindset - willing to dive deep into forecasting models, assumptions, and operational details while maintaining a strategic enterprise perspective

Basic Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in tax accounting, transfer pricing, FP&A or other models based work
  • CPA, MBA or JD, or equivalent advanced professional qualification
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical capabilities, with experience translating complex data into actionable business insights
  • Proven ability to influence executive stakeholders without direct authority
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex cross-functional initiatives in fast-paced environments

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leveraging automation, AI, and data-driven tools to modernize analytical, data heavy processes
  • High degree of ownership, accountability, and operational rigor
  • Believe Tax is Cool
