Senior Lead Software Engineer

We are a virtual company based in Hampton Roads, Virginia, requiring a once-a-month in-person meeting.

We are seeking a Senior Lead Engineer to spearhead the development of our core accounting and financial modeling platforms. This is a pivotal role for an experienced engineer who thrives at the intersection of complex financial logic and modern cloud architecture. You will be responsible for bridging the gap between legacy systems and next-generation frameworks, ensuring our software remains scalable, secure, and precise. (Note: Our current lead is available to ensure a smooth onboarding and transition for this role.)

• 30% Future IP Strategy: Define the technical roadmap, evolving legacy ASP.NET systems toward modern, scalable services while ensuring long-term architectural stability.
• 40% Operational Execution: Drive hands-on development of new software modules and troubleshooting complex financial logic to ensure platform performance.
• 30% Engineering Enablement: Conduct code reviews, maintain SDLC best practices, and mentor team members to maintain high production quality.

• Lead the technical design and evolution of our financial software ecosystem.
• Balance the maintenance of legacy ASP.NET Core applications with the rollout of modern Next.js and FastAPI services.
• Write high-quality code across the stack using C#, Razor, JavaScript/TypeScript, and Python.
• Design and optimize complex relational databases like MariaDB.
• Manage data warehousing solutions via Redshift to handle sophisticated financial analytics.
• Oversee cloud infrastructure via AWS, specifically EC2, ECS, and RDS.
• Ensure high availability, security, and performance of production environments.
• Lead code reviews, maintain best practices for the SDLC, and mentor junior/mid-level engineers.
• Proactively identify system bottlenecks and troubleshoot complex financial calculation errors.

• Extensive experience with ASP.NET Core, C#, and Razor.
• Proficiency in modern web frameworks, specifically Next.js, FastAPI, and TypeScript.
• Deep expertise in MariaDB or MySQL.
• Experience with Amazon Redshift or similar OLAP databases.
• Proven experience managing AWS environments via Console and SSH (specifically ECS for containerization and RDS for database management).
• Expert-level command of Git (BitBucket/GitHub) and Jira for project management.

• 7+ years in software engineering.
• At least 2 years in a leadership or senior architectural role.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• A strong understanding of accounting principles or financial modeling is highly preferred.
• Ability to translate complex technical requirements into actionable goals for the development team and stakeholders.

• Salary Range: $120,000 to $145,000, based on experience.
