Lead .NET Engineer - Full-Time Employment
About us
We're a fast-growing fintech company on a mission to make digital payments smarter, simpler, and more transparent. We provide a data-driven online payment solution to a large and growing base of merchants across Europe, and we're working toward a future where buyers and sellers always have the information they need to make confident decisions. We believe in building smart, affordable payment infrastructure — and we're scaling fast acquiring companies through vertical integration.
The role
We're looking for a Lead .NET Engineer who's excited to design and build modern web solutions in .NET, shape architecture across distributed systems, and lead a small, high-impact team.
You'll split your time between hands-on feature development, technical leadership, and close collaboration with other team leads to keep our platform scalable, resilient, and secure. If you love the web, enjoy challenging the status quo, and want your work to have visible impact in a scaling fintech, we'd love to hear from you.
What you'll be working on
- Splitting your time between building features, leading your team, and aligning with other team leaders across the business
- Digging into complex problems, providing technical guidance, and determining the right architecture for new and existing systems
- Working with your teammates to create technical plans for business, compliance, and maintenance features
- Operating within a SCRUM team (4–6 developers + Product Owner), involved across the entire software development lifecycle from planning to maintenance
- Ensuring your team delivers high-quality, easy-to-learn, resilient, and observable software
- Mentoring less experienced colleagues to help raise the team's overall technical level
What we're looking for
- Expertise in the .NET stack and the web — you can plan and build web projects in modern .NET, with strong command of ASP.NET, C#, and MS SQL, and confidence in caching, data distribution, and performance optimization
- Distributed thinking — experience working on distributed systems, with the ability to build microservices from scratch
- Monolith tolerance — you're not afraid of legacy code, and you have practical ideas for evolving it into a modern architecture
- A love of automation — whether it's CI/CD or AI, you look for ways to automate your own workflow
- Architectural thoroughness — you know how to plan and design complex features from top to bottom
- Client-side skills as a bonus — comfort with the browser and JavaScript is a plus, not a requirement
- A self-driven attitude — you like seeing features through from planning to completion, and you're always keen to learn more
- Critical thinking — you're comfortable challenging the status quo and voicing your ideas
- Working Proficiency in English — confident written and spoken communication
- Team-first leadership — you know how to build a team, lead them toward successful outcomes, and actively invest in team spirit
- Genuine enthusiasm for the web — you enjoy learning about new technologies and sharing that knowledge with colleagues
Hiring process (2 Stage Process)
1. Initial introduction (30 minutes) — a conversation with the Hiring Manager covering an introduction to the company, an overview of the role, and a discussion of your background, experience, and career goals
2. Technical interview (2 hours) — a deep dive into your technical expertise and problem-solving skills with our Principal Engineer and one or two Lead Software Engineers, including an hour-long system-design exercise where you'll plan a new feature for an existing application. No live coding, no trick questions.
What we will offer
- Competitive salary and attractive compensation packages (Discussed on Call)
- Private health care with comprehensive coverage
- A warm, welcoming team culture that values humour, creativity, and the occasional meme.
- Low-process, high-authority teams — so you can focus on real work instead of meetings
- A scale-up environment where your impact on the product is genuinely visible
- 3 days of home office per week for focused, uninterrupted development time
- A modern office, with a brand-new space currently in design and an upcoming move planned
