Bankers Insurance Group is seeking a Software Engineer II to develop, support, and enhance business-critical applications that support our insurance operations.
This role requires a hands-on software engineer who is comfortable working across multiple technologies including web applications, APIs, cloud services, databases, and enterprise integrations. The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, QA analysts, project managers, vendors, and fellow developers to deliver scalable, secure, and reliable solutions.
As part of a small and agile IT organization, this role requires ownership throughout the software development lifecycle, including development, deployment, production support, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise applications and APIs
- Support customer-facing and agent-facing web applications
- Develop and maintain integrations between internal systems, cloud services, third-party vendors, and legacy applications
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues across applications, APIs, databases, and cloud infrastructure
- Participate in application design and technical solution discussions
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver technical solutions
- Develop and maintain technical documentation
- Participate in code reviews and follow development best practices
- Support application deployments and production releases
- Assist with modernization initiatives involving cloud technologies and enterprise integrations
- Collaborate with the AI team to integrate AI capabilities into business applications and workflows
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 4 to 7 years of software development experience
- Experience developing applications using C# and .NET
- Experience supporting Java and/or Angular applications
- Experience developing REST APIs and web services
- Strong SQL Server and database development experience
- Experience supporting production applications and troubleshooting complex issues
- Experience working with Microsoft Azure or similar cloud platforms
- Experience integrating with third-party APIs and enterprise systems
- Familiarity with AI concepts and AI-assisted software development practices
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Property & Casualty Insurance industry experience
- Experience with IBM AS400 integrations
- Experience with PCML integrations
- Experience with Azure App Services, Azure DevOps, and cloud deployments
- Experience with Salesforce integrations
- Experience working with AI technologies such as LLMs, AI agents, MCP, RAG, or cloud AI services
- Experience collaborating with AI or Data Science teams to implement AI-powered business solutions
