As a Technical Consultant, you’ll play a key role in shaping how ASB connects with partners and customers through our External API platform. You’ll lead the design and implementation of new integrations, with a strong focus on Open Banking and Financial‑grade APIs. Working closely with engineers, squads, and stakeholders across the bank, you’ll bring technical leadership, practical guidance, and a collaborative mindset to everything you do.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of new integrations into ASB’s External API platform
- Provide technical leadership across Open Banking, FAPI, and integration design and delivery
- Engage with third‑party providers and internal stakeholders to provide guidance and consultancy
- Translate business requirements into clear, well considered technical designs
- Ensure solutions meet security, risk, and control requirements before release to production
- Act as the voice of engineering, working closely with squads and platforms to deliver high quality services
- Support and influence technical decisions beyond your immediate squad where needed
What We’re Looking For
- Extensive experience in software engineering, with strong technical depth
- Proven experience in solution or technical architecture roles
- Strong background designing and delivering integrations at scale
- Hands on experience with Open Banking and Financial‑grade APIs
- Strong design and development skills using C# and .NET
- Experience working with API gateways, access policies, and integration patterns
- Solid understanding of digital certificates, mutual TLS, and secure API communication
- In‑depth knowledge of authentication and authorisation, including OAuth and OIDC
- Experience with containerisation and enterprise networking technologies
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control tools such as Git
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and confidently
- Experience working with cloud platforms, particularly Azure
- Hands on experience with security frameworks for Financial‑grade APIs
- Exposure to observability and monitoring tools such as the ELK stack
- Experience working in Agile environments
