The opportunity

You will be joining the IT team of a major international energy company at a pivotal moment — they are modernizing their core gas nomination platform from the ground up. Think legacy decommissioning, architectural decisions, and building something that traders rely on every single day to move gas across North American pipelines.

If you thrive at the intersection of complex business processes and serious software engineering, this is the kind of role you stay in for years.

What you'll be working on

  • Leading the evolution of an in-house gas nomination and scheduling platform used by front-office trading teams across North America.
  • You will own the full stack — desktop application development in C# / WPF, database logic in PL/SQL / Oracle, and integration with external pipeline counterparties.
  • You will work directly with gas schedulers and traders to understand operational needs and translate them into robust, production-grade solutions.
  • Beyond writing code, you will be expected to contribute to architectural decisions, establish best practices, and help guide the platform toward a scalable long-term design.
  • This is a hands-on role with real technical influence.

What we're looking for

  • Strong C# and WPF development experience — desktop applicatif, not web. You know how to build interfaces that schedulers actually use under pressure.
  • Nice to have - PL/SQL on Oracle — stored procedures, packages, performance tuning on large transactional databases.
  • A genuine understanding of gas scheduling and nomination workflows — how volumes move, how nominations get submitted to pipelines, what happens when something breaks at 6am.
  • The ability to operate independently in a fast-moving trading environment where system stability is non-negotiable

Good to have

Experience with ETRM systems such as Endur, RightAngle, or Allegro. EDI X12 / NAESB / GISB exposure. Agile delivery experience. Familiarity with Claude Code.
