About the Company
We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help maintain, enhance, and modernize a large enterprise time-tracking, labor-management, and payroll platform. This is a mature Microsoft/.NET application with a large Visual Studio solution, supporting time collection, payroll processing, accruals and leave management, scheduling, reporting, and integrations with time-clock and payroll systems. The platform is deployed at scale in a single-tenant model. Each customer runs on an isolated instance with its own IIS site and SQL Server database, while thousands of instances are hosted and managed centrally.
About the Role
This role requires someone comfortable working across the full stack, from IIS configuration and SQL Server tuning to service-layer development, API work, and legacy front-end maintenance. The ideal candidate has strong experience supporting large production systems, making practical architectural decisions in a long-lived codebase, and helping guide modernization without destabilizing existing customers.
Responsibilities
- A large ASP.NET Web Forms front end with hundreds of pages and controls
- JavaScript, jQuery, Telerik Kendo UI, Telerik ASP.NET AJAX controls, and XSLT-rendered dynamic forms and reports
- Payroll, accrual, overtime, premium, holiday, carryover, and scheduling rule engines
- Web API 2 and OData service layers used by customers and external integrations
- Integrations with physical and software-based time-clock platforms
- Payroll integrations with third-party payroll providers and internal payroll systems
- Configurable export, mapping, and reporting frameworks
- Fleet operations across thousands of isolated customer instances
- IIS site configuration, PowerShell deployment automation, database upgrades, and license-server integration
- Performance and reliability work, including SQL tuning, NHibernate caching, transaction boundaries, and cache-eviction correctness
Qualifications
- 6+ years of professional software development experience, with significant Microsoft/.NET experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
Required Skills
- IIS, Windows Hosting, and Deployment
- Deep hands-on experience with IIS administration, including application pools, site bindings, request pipeline behavior, HTTP modules, and system.webServer configuration
- Experience tuning URL handling, static and dynamic compression, custom response headers, request limits, and IIS-level hardening
- Ability to automate IIS and per-site configuration using PowerShell
- Strong experience with C# and .NET Framework
- Deep ASP.NET Web Forms experience, including page lifecycle, .aspx and .ascx controls, ViewState, postbacks, and server-control event handling
- Experience working in large multi-project Visual Studio solutions
- Strong knowledge of MSBuild and Visual Studio-based build processes
- Experience with ASP.NET Web API 2, REST services, and OData
- Strong XML and XSLT experience
- Advanced T-SQL skills, including query writing, stored procedures, indexing, and execution-plan analysis
- Production experience with NHibernate or similar ORM frameworks
Preferred Skills
- Experience operating single-tenant applications at scale across many isolated customer instances
- Quartz.NET or similar scheduling framework experience
- Strong front-end skills with JavaScript, jQuery, Telerik Kendo UI, Telerik ASP.NET AJAX controls, Bootstrap, LESS, and Moment.js
- Authentication and directory integration experience, including session-based authentication, LDAP, Active Directory, SAML2, OWIN, or OpenID Connect
- Unit testing experience with MSTest, NSubstitute, NDbUnit, or comparable tools
- CI/CD experience with Azure DevOps Pipelines, Jenkins, NuGet restore, VSBuild, VSTest, code coverage, and DACPAC artifact publishing
